When selecting forklift batteries, many purchasers first focus on capacity, price and physical fit for the forklift.

In real‑world operation, however, forklift batteries affect not only runtime, but also vehicle power performance, charging efficiency, safety management, maintenance costs and after‑sales support. For scenarios such as warehousing & logistics, manufacturing workshops, cold‑chain handling and outdoor material transfer, choosing a battery essentially means selecting a power system tailored to long‑term on‑site operational requirements.

Prior to procurement, the following seven key aspects are recommended for your evaluation.

I. Confirm Forklift Model and Voltage Platform First

Different forklifts adopt different voltage platforms. Direct replacement merely based on battery capacity is not allowed.

Qianhang lithium‑ion batteries for forklifts cover 24 V, 48 V, 72 V and 80 V series, compatible with stackers, pallet trucks, counterbalance forklifts and some heavy‑duty forklift applications.

The 24 V series is mostly used for stackers and pallet trucks. Common specifications are 25.6 V/150 Ah, 230 Ah, 280 Ah, 314 Ah.

The 48 V series is mainly applied to counterbalance forklifts. Typical specifications include 51.2 V/230 Ah, 314 Ah, 460 Ah, 560 Ah.

The 72 V series is suitable for selected counterbalance forklifts, with popular specifications of 76.8 V/314 Ah, 460 Ah, 560 Ah.

The 80 V series is designed for counterbalance forklifts. Its mainstream specifications are 83.2 V/314 Ah, 460 Ah, 560 Ah.

The first step of procurement is to confirm the original forklift voltage, vehicle structure, installation dimensions, counterweight requirements and control‑system interfaces, rather than simply comparing battery capacity alone.

II. Do Not Only Focus on Ah, Pay Attention to kWh as Well

Many people judge battery size by Ampere‑hour (Ah). However, Ah alone cannot represent driving range. The indicator that better reflects available energy is kilowatt‑hour (kWh).

Take 314 Ah as an example: batteries with the same Ah rating deliver different energy capacities under different voltage platforms:

  • 24V/314Ah ≈ 8.03 kWh

  • 48V/314Ah ≈ 16.07 kWh

  • 72V/314Ah ≈ 24.11 kWh

  • 80V/314Ah ≈ 26.12 kWh

Therefore, during procurement, do not merely inquire about the Ampere‑hour rating. You should also check the nominal voltage, energy in kWh, vehicle power consumption and actual operating hours. Otherwise, you may encounter cases where specifications look comparable on paper but perform very differently in real‑world operation.

III. Match Operating Current According to Work Intensity

Forklifts place high demands on battery output capability during startup, steering, lifting and full‑load travel. Especially for heavy‑load handling, continuous loading/unloading and multi‑shift operation scenarios, the battery shall not only have sufficient capacity, but also support stable vehicle operation.

Qianhang forklift lithium‑ion batteries are equipped with corresponding rated operating current and maximum operating current for different voltage platforms:

  • 24V series: maximum operating current ranges from 150A to 314A

  • 48V series: maximum operating current ranges from 230A to 400A

  • 72V series: maximum operating current ranges from 300A to 400A

  • 80V series: maximum operating current of 400A

If on‑site conditions involve long‑hour continuous operation, frequent lifting/lowering or ramp travel, it is recommended to fully verify the vehicle motor power, controller parameters and actual load conditions during model selection.

IV. Prioritize Recharging Efficiency for Multi‑Shift Operations

For enterprises with single‑shift operation, more focus can be placed on runtime and overnight bulk charging. For two‑shift, three‑shift or high‑frequency operations, recharging efficiency shall be a key evaluation factor.

Qianhang smart industrial chargers cover output voltage specifications including 24V, 48V, 80V, 96V and 100V. Certain models deliver output current up to 100A, 150A and 200A. They are applicable for charging LFP (Lithium‑Iron‑Phosphate) batteries of electric pallet trucks, electric forklifts, electric transport vehicles and electric stackers.

For purchasers, even with a properly‑sized battery capacity, insufficient charger power rating may still lead to the on‑site issue of “the truck is capable, yet power supply cannot keep up”.

V. Evaluate Operating Environment; Pre‑configure for Low‑temperature Scenarios

Forklifts operate in a wide variety of environments. Ordinary warehouses, cold‑chain storage, outdoor loading & unloading, and humid dusty conditions impose different requirements on battery configurations.

Qianhang forklift lithium‑ion batteries come standard with leakage detection and remote monitoring functions. Optional accessories include charging guns, fire suppression systems and heating systems.

With standard configuration, the battery charging temperature ranges from 0℃ to 55℃, and discharge temperature ranges from ‑20℃ to 60℃. With optional heating system installed, the charging temperature can extend to ‑20℃ ~ 55℃, and discharge temperature to ‑30℃ ~ 60℃.

If forklifts are deployed in cold‑storage warehouses, outdoor winter sites, low‑temperature logistics and other similar scenarios, the heating system configuration is highly recommended. In low‑temperature environments, the battery shall not only support discharge, but also allow normal charging.

VI. Check Intelligent Management Capabilities

Industrial‑vehicle batteries are more than simple combinations of battery cells. The BMS (Battery Management System) plays a critical role.

Qianhang forklift lithium‑ion batteries adopt an intelligent Battery Management System to govern battery operation and realize automatic balancing, helping maintain a more stable working condition of the battery. Meanwhile, the remote cloud platform can access real‑time operating status and location of the power supply, supporting fault diagnosis and remote firmware upgrade. Operators can also check real‑time operating data via a mobile APP.

For fleet management, these functions enable enterprises to view battery status in real time, assist in fault identification, and record operating data and historical information, so as to improve maintenance efficiency in later stages.

VII. Evaluate Structural Customization and After‑sales Response

Forklift batteries are subject to constraints from the original vehicle’s available space, weight, counterweight and interface positions. Qianhang lithium‑ion batteries for industrial vehicles support custom‑made voltage, capacity and dimensions, with size and weight tailored to forklift models and application requirements.

In terms of structural design, Qianhang adopts integrated counterweight design and modular design. The integrated counterweight design delivers better compatibility with the vehicle’s counterweight requirements, while the modular design facilitates later‑stage maintenance, component replacement and solution adaptation. For applications on the same forklift model, relevant counterweight solutions can be adjusted to match vehicle structures, improving convenience for installation and maintenance.

Conclusion

Selecting forklift batteries is not simply a matter of comparing price and capacity. It requires a comprehensive evaluation considering factors such as vehicle type, voltage platform, battery capacity, operating current, charging conditions, operating environment, intelligent management, in-house developed charger, and after-sales service.
